March 16, 2017: Program: “Cool story about Abraham Lincoln”! 1pm at DHS resource center. April 20, 2017: DHS Membership Annual Meeting & Program “Ice Harvesting” by Carol McClernon and DHS elections. 7pm at DHS resource center. May 18, 2017: Program: “History of Bradley Department Store” by Lois Stritt and Bill McKoy. 7pm at Bradley’s Dept Store, 222 E Walworth Ave, Delavan, WI. Refreshments will be served, everyone welcome!

Isreal Stowell Temperance House Committee Meeting, Jan 7th, DHS Resource Center, 10am-11:30am

This meeting is for the committee and potential new committee members to brush-up on what has been done to date with the Temperance House, and to prepare for a meeting with Genell Scheurell and Jodi Sweeney of the Sweeney Group on Jan 11, 2017.

On Thursday, January 21st, the Delavan Historical Society will host its annual meeting. Elections of Directors will take place during the meeting. We currently have one director’s position open. The program will be held at the Delavan Historical Society’s Exhibit & Resource Center at 663 E Ann St at 1pm.

Thursday, September 20th, at 7:00pm Historical Society, Israel Stowell Temperance House In 1998, Ed Chesko visited the Nieuwenhuis rummage sale, and suggested to Mel Nieuwenhuis that he should interview his parents and some other members of the Dutch community about their life stories. Swiss Croft Dairy farm Camp to be Topic of August Program

Historical Society The Swiss Croft Farm Camp will be the subject of the August meeting of the Delavan Historical Society on Thursday, August 16th at 7pm. John & Marian McClellan will share the history of the McClellan family farm and the story of its several decades as a summer camp for kids on a working dairy farm. May Program to Feature Civil War Monument

Historical Society The Delavan Historical Society’s May program will be on Delavan’s Civil War Monument, presented by Ken Wargo with special guest, violinist, Rachael Riggs. Mr Wargo is the chairman of a committee that is working towards restoring the monument which has fallen victim to its age and the elements. Vitrified Brick Street to be topic of Delavan Historical Society’s Upc

Historical Society Delavan’s famous brick street was constructed in 1918 and reconstructed in 1996 while Ron Henriott was Mayor of the City of Delavan. Despite years of heavy travel by horse drawn conveyances and automobiles, much of the original brick paving material was re-used to complete the project. Temperance House Committee to Meet

Israel Stowell Temperance House The Israel Stowell Temperance House Committee will meet at 9am March 10th at the Community Ban Community Centre. This meeting is open to anyone interested in the preservation of this landmark.
