Paul Lange’s 150th Birthday Program

All are welcome March 22 at 1 p.m  to the celebration of  Paul Lange’s 150th birthday at the Delavan Historical Society’s Center, 663 East Ann St.  Lange was declared “The Father of Wisconsin Arbor Day” by the Wisconsin Legislature in 1951 for his efforts to create the day.  .

 Lange, a deaf teacher of forestry at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf for 32 years.
also wrote many articles for the Janesville Daily Observer and translated German articles on deaf education.  A tree surgery and trimming business he established was continued by his son, Rudy.
He served on the Delavan Park Board for 25 years  At 94 years old, Lange was honored for his contributions when the Delavan arboretum was dedicated..
