Vitrified Brick Street to be topic of Delavan Historical Society’s Upc

Historical Society

Delavan’s famous brick street was constructed in 1918 and reconstructed in 1996 while Ron Henriott was Mayor of the City of Delavan. Despite years of heavy travel by horse drawn conveyances and automobiles, much of the original brick paving material was re-used to complete the project. The brick street is listed on the Federal and State Registers of Historic Places and represents one of the last and best remaining examples of original brick paved roadways in the State of Wisconsin.

Henriott will be sharing information on the reconstruction project in a program for the Delavan Historical Society on Thursday, March 15th at 1pm at the Community Bank Community Centre located at 825 E. Geneva Street. This program is free and open to the public.
