What collection management covers
Four areas of ongoing work. Each one is being documented here as procedures are finalized.
Accessioning
More details coming soon. How an item formally enters the collection: offer, review, agreement, and accession number.
Cataloging
More details coming soon. How items are described, numbered, and photographed so they can be found again.
Storage & preservation
More details coming soon. Housing, materials, environment, and handling standards used to keep items stable.
Research access
More details coming soon. How researchers and community members can request to see or use material.
Offering an item to the collection
Delavan History reviews every offer against what it can properly store, document, and make available. Not everything can be accepted, and an item that is declined is not an item without value. It may simply belong somewhere better suited to it.
More details coming soon.
